This photo was taken by a good friend while staying at a vineyard in British Columbia. As soon as I saw it, I knew this would make a spectacular thread painting, but I wasn’t certain I could do it justice with all of the detailed rows and layers of landscape within the unique glow of the sunset light. I have transferred the photo with my inkjet printer onto a fabric sheet and the process of choosing the perfect thread colour has begun! This project has made it very clear to me that I can only choose colours under daylight. Especially with the interesting glow the sunset has cast on this scene, picking the right thread colour will determine whether or not I can successfully portray the mood of this special image.
