Artist Statement

Growing up in rural Manitoba, I developed a deep appreciation for the breathtaking views, sunsets and blue skies that only the Canadian Prairies can offer. Each of my fabric landscapes is inspired by nature’s detail and unparalleled beauty. The colours and surface designs found in nature influence the direction of my work, and by interpreting these compositions into fabric and thread, I hope to draw the viewer deep into each piece. My work as a fibre artist has allowed me to combine my two greatest passions, fabric and nature, to experiment in creating realistic scenes with a compelling sense of serenity. Each sky is individually hand-painted to create a realistic effect that brings the scene to life. Using a collection of fine fabrics, the landscapes are pieced and hand-embroidered to create a surface design that captures the textures of the countryside. These pictures reflect my endless fascination with the land and gratitude for the earth’s surrounding and beauty. Enjoy the view!
