 I'm Julie Garcia. I've been a fabric lover my entire life.

My journey into landscape quilting began almost thirty years ago, and I still light up every time I begin collaging fabrics together to begin another picture. The challenge of creating depth and and textures with fabric and thread keeps me inspired to try new things. By hand-painting the sky fabrics, I can give each picture a paint-like quality that pulls the viewer in to take a closer look. Using a specific combination of fabrics, I try to allow the natural beauty in each fabric show while I create the scene. Lastly,  free-style hand embroidery allows me to slowly "paint" the details I want to see. A fence, a flower garden or branches on a tree, there's always a way to build interesting elements into the picture.  With each stitch, I want the viewer to fall in love with textiles the way I have.
